At the beginning of the school year, UnPLUG's new set of officers and past BDs huddled to discuss current issues and to plan future projects.

Computer Literacy Training with Center for Women Studies

Marami namang nag-volunteer dito.

The Diliman Free and Open Source Distribution Service is a joint project of UnPLUG and University Computer Center that provides the students, staff and academic personnel of UP Diliman with an easy and convenient method to avail of free and open source software within the infrastructure of the Diliman Network (DILNET), which connects all units of the University to each other and to the Web.

This not only allows for a faster and more secure update but also ensures that the updates that the infrastructure will receive are stable and have been checked to prevent bugs and other issues.

Linux Day

This year, the University of the Philippines Linux Users' Group joined the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Linux and hosted the celebration for the campus by giving out fliers all around the university and having people go to the Department of Computer Science to exchange these fliers for their own copy of various Linux Distros. UnPLUG members donated CDs, DVDs, and other materials for the event.

Software Freedom Day

For 2011's SFD, UnPLUG chose to host their own SFD instead of partnering again with CPU. Instead of targeting a large audience, the organization chose to focus on a small group of individuals from 5 schools to immerse them with Free and Open Source Software. Quality over quantity.

Halalan UP Manila

This year, the turnover of the USC Halalan in Manila to their local organization, SOCOMSCI(?) was started. Their volunteers set up their Halalan instance, and encoded the necessary information to the system. Initially, their installation was the unmodified Halalan 1.5.1 available in the project website, but Paolo was able to magically change the installation to a version that more suits the requirements necessary for a UP Election. As an evaluation, SOCOMSCI were able to execute the elections and they would be better through experience. Nevertheless, it is recommended to still provide them a developer next year.

Halalan Diliman

Despite the pressure from a lot of organizations and countless demands of candidates and electoral boards, UnPLUG gracefully conquored this year's UP Diliman USC elections with "49% voter turn-out and lowest record of manual votes yet". UnPLUG thanks Dilnet for their assistance and OSA for making this an enjoyable experience for the members.

Org Fair

Friday night after USC Diliman Halalan, the current BD and thus, the organization, was contacted and invited by our ever beloved OSA people to join them and set up a booth for the OrgFair for the Top10% UPCAT Passers for the incoming batch 2012. However, notwithstanding the less than 12hours leadtime, UnPLUG was able to pull it off by displaying 2 tarps, at least 3 posters, 4 penguins, providing 2 laptops for presentations, and giving away around 20+ Ubuntu CDs (stock from SFD).
